What is AIC's Giving Tuesday "Across the Map" micro-campaign?

AIC's Giving Tuesday "Across the Map" initiative is American International College’s special micro-campaign designed to unite the entire AIC community in a shared effort to make a difference. Held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, this crowdfunding campaign not only raises critical funds but also builds excitement, fosters engagement, and showcases the transformative impact of donor support at AIC.

This year, AIC is focusing Giving Tuesday efforts on two key funds: AIC's Greatest Needs and Student Scholarships. By concentrating on these priorities, the campaign underscores the College's commitment to addressing immediate institutional needs while making higher education more accessible for students.

  • AIC's Greatest Needs: Contributions to this fund support a broad range of the College's most pressing priorities, helping to fund impactful projects and initiatives that enhance the AIC experience for students and the community.
  • Student Scholarships: Gifts to this fund directly support financial aid, ensuring that more students can access and benefit from an AIC education, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Every gift, no matter the size, helps to foster a culture of philanthropy and empowers AIC to continue its meaningful work. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of our students and the future of the College.

Is Giving Tuesday replacing AIC's Annual Giving Day, and how are the two events different?

No, Giving Tuesday is not replacing AIC's Annual Giving Day, which is in the Spring. These two campaigns serve unique purposes and offer different opportunities for donors to support AIC throughout the academic year.

  • Giving Tuesday "Across the Map" (December 3, 2024): This is a focused micro-campaign aligned with the global Giving Tuesday movement. It highlights AIC’s year-end giving efforts by concentrating on two critical priorities: AIC's Greatest Needs and Student Scholarships. It aims to rally the AIC community—alumni, families, and friends—to make an immediate impact on the College’s key priorities and help make higher education more accessible.
  • AIC Gives (April 9, 2025): This is AIC’s Annual Giving Day, a 24-hour, community-wide celebration of philanthropy held in the spring. It is a campaign where donors can give to their favorite area on campus and have the chance to support what matters most to them. AIC Gives emphasizes the power of choice, offering a wide range of giving opportunities to advance specific programs, departments, and initiatives that reflect the diverse passions of the AIC community.

Both campaigns are essential in their own ways—Giving Tuesday focuses on addressing critical priorities at year-end, helping AIC plan and build momentum for the year ahead, while AIC Gives celebrates participation and offers donors the flexibility to support the areas of campus they care about most. Together, these campaigns ensure a vibrant and impactful philanthropic tradition at AIC, sustaining its mission and future growth.
